Q: Why would I choose to list with your Job Exchange?
A:
The CLTi Job Exchange puts your organisation in front of millions of eyes. Instead of being one Educational Organisation searching the world for suitable teachers, you can be right where interested teachers are looking. That way you increase the pool of potential applicants without increasing advertising costs – one advert covers the world.
Q: If I become a member will anyone be able to see my details?
A:
No. Only provider organisations that have been registered on the Job Exchange will be able to view your details. As a new teacher member only your given name will appear in the Provider Organisation’s “New Listings” panel. This gives you the advantage of standing out from the crowd when you first register, but your full details will be displayed when a Provider Orgnisation does a search that matches some of your details.
Q: Who is CLTi?
A:
CLTi is a specialist in communicative language training, combining the best trainers and course materials with elearning and technology solutions to offer courses around the world.

Q: Does CLTi guarantee these jobs are genuine?
A:
No. CLTi’s role is only to provide the means for matching you to a suitable job. You must carry out your own research to make sure the job conditions match what the provider organisation claims. Some links are provided to help you do this research.
Q: How did the Job Exchange start?
A:
CLTi has been linking teachers with english teaching qualifications with educational institutions since 1995. We have also taught teachers to teach english as a second language in their own countries. The Job Exchange grew out of our staff recognising the cultural difficulties that arise when non-native teachers try to teach english as they would do in their own country. By training teachers to teach english effectively, your organisation will improve the standard of teaching and the level of achievement of your students.
Q: Are there any ‘hidden’ costs?
A:
It costs nothing for a teacher to register as a job seeker on th CLTi Job Exchange. Other costs to do with any position you choose, such as accommodation and travel, must be negotiated with the Provider Organisation so you have a clear understanding of your financial commitment.
Q: How do I know the Job Exchange will work?
A:
We estimate it will take about 12 months before the Job Exchange grows to the level we expect it to achieve. CLTi is wellknown in educational circles in New Zealand and Asia, and as our staff and teacher students spread the word we anticipate that growth will be rapid. The Job Exchange, however, will grow into a vibrant community only if teachers and education providers choose to use it. That’s why we have spent many months developing the site into an easy to use tool. We are interested to hear your feedback.
Q: What are the costs if I invest in the Job Exchange?
A:
For the Provider Organisation there is a once only registration fee of US$200. This entitles you to:- List any vacancy at any time.
- Change your details or job details at anytime.
- View any suitable teacher’s details and download their CV.
- Be advised of and accept an application from an interested teacher online.
- Contact any listed teacher using the information supplied through the Job Exchange.
Q: What do I need in order to register?
A:
You can register immediately as long as you can provide the contact details required in the form. The registration form is like any online form and has some “required” fields that you must fill in. If you miss one, a message will come up about what you must change or add. Once you are registered you can come back at any time to add in more information or upload your CV and a photo. The more information you include the more likely you will be found on a search by the Provider Organisations.
Q: What if I decide not to use the Job Exchange any more?
A:
If at any time you decide not to use the Exchange simply click on ‘Delete My Profile’ and all your details will be removed from our database. If you wanted to rejoin at a later date, you would have to pay a new registration fee.
If you thought you might use the Exchange again later, you should remain listed as a provider. Your name would not appear on any listing during the time you were not listing vacancies.
Q: How do Provider Organisations find me?
A:
Provider Organisations that have registered with the Job Exchange are able to do a search on their requirements as well as advertise their vacancies. They can specify a number of search criteria, such as qualifications, experience, preferred age group, salary range etc.
Q: What if a teacher you listed turned out to be no good?
A:
It is up to you to check out a teacher’s qualifications and experience. The CLTi Job Exchange only links teachers and education providers; it does NOT vet teachers or providers. We can advise you where to go to check out a teacher’s credentials in some countries.
Q: What if I don’t fit any search criteria?
A:
You will only come up in a search when the Provider Organisation searches for all listings. This could happen when a position must be filled quickly and the organisation is prepared to widen their criteria.
Q: What do I have to provide in order to list on your site?
A:
You need to provide contact details, address and a contact person. This is to enable potential teachers to check you out and assure themselves that they can trust you. You can also add your own website address, so that teachers can link to your site.
Q: How can I improve my chances of finding a job?
A:
Make sure you give as much information as possible when creating your “profile”. If you already have created your profile, click on Modify My Profile, answer every question and add or expand your own criteria. For instance, you could widen the number of countries you are prepared to work in. (Press the Ctrl key down and click your mouse pointer on a new country name to add other options.)
Q: How do I list a job?
A:
Once you are registered you can list any number of jobs. You do this from your personal Home Page. You will go there as soon as you enter your username and password. Use the Add a New Job Listing button on the top toolbar. This will take you to an online form that gives you a number of listing options to help potential applicants decide whethr your job would suit them. Choose the minimum level of each category, unless the question allows you to select more than one option.
Q: Do I just wait round until a Provider Organisation contacts me?
A:
No. You can be active about finding a position, too. Once you are registered you can:- Check out any or all the registered positions.
- Save interesting positions to your list.
- Apply online to any position that interests you.
- Check out whether the Provider Organsiation has looked at your CV, rejected it, or is still considering you application.
Q: What will make my job vacancy stand out?
A:
The way that teachers search the database by using keywords will limit your ability to control your listing preference. You can, however, purchase one of the preferrential customer advert spaces on key Job Exchange pages. Email CLTi to find our costs and advertising specifications.
Another way to improve your chances of attracting quality teachers is to offer good conditions of employment. Providing travel costs and quality accommodation is one way to do this. Higher-than-normal teaching salaries will also increase the interest in your vacancy.
Q: Will I be interviewed?
A:
This depends on the process adopted by the Provider Organsiation. Once the organisation has short-listed you they are likely to contact you through one of the contact methods you have included in your registration data or CV. From that point on your discussions will be outside the job exchange.
